General Information for Travellers
   
What goods can be entered into Chile exempt from tax and duty payment?
   
a. Baggage, and
b. Non-commercial goods that have been purchased at the DUTY FREE on arrival, not exceeding USD 500.
   
What does the concept of "baggage" refer to?
   
a.
New or used goods/articles carried by travellers either for personal use or as gifts/presents, excluding those which are intended for sale, either because of quantity or value.
b.
Used articles exclusively carried for the exercise of professions or duties. They must be portable objects, usually carried from one place to another by professionals and craftsmen, excluding machinery, devices or any other articles requiring any type of installation for use.
c.
For people over the age of 18, a quantity not exceeding 400 cigarettes, 500g of pipe tobacco, 50 cigars and 2,500 cubic centimetres of alcoholic beverages.
In addition, baggage covers the following items:
a.
Used video camera and recorded tapes for family use
b.
Used mobile/cellular phones
c.
Used photo camera
d.
Used sport gear for personal use
e.
Medicines/medications for personal use in appropriate quantities according to the needs of patient and duration of stay in the country
f.
