Environmental Issues

CONAMA: National Environment Commission. You can also learn about the environmental impact assessment system.

SINIA: National System for Environmental Information, managed by CONAMA. This website includes a search engine focused on environmental issues.

National Institute of Standarization: National Institute of Standardization. It is responsible for developing and managing technical standardization processes, accrediting certification, and developing the use of metrology. It also guarantees that its certifications comply with ISO standards and other international guidelines.

Cleaner Production Center: State institution that certifies cleaner production technologies and promotes efficient energy use.

Sesma: Metropolitan Region's Environmental Health Service.

Sanitation Services Regulatory Agency: This agency studies, proposes and monitors compliance with technical rules on the design, construction, and use of sanitation and industrial sewage services throughout the country. It also awards expands or modifies concessions, and imposes fines on sanitation service providers that infringe the regulations.

CIREN: Natural Resources Information Center (affiliated to CORFO). It provides information related to natural resources and its sustainable use (English).

INACH: National Institute for Antarctic Affairs (affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Relations). Its mission is to coordinate all the research activity conducted in the Chilean Antarctica.
